Dear Friends,

Winter in New England is almost upon us. The principal purpose of this letter is to reach out to all of you for continuing support of our mission. This year, CHAA’s Fundraising and Development Committee has set an ambitious target of $10,000 for this appeal. This can only be met with your support!

The CHAA mission statement reads, “To build and foster positive working relationships with Camp Hale, the United South End Settlements (USES), and all in the Camp Hale community, for the benefit and continued success of Camp Hale”. CHAA is a major sponsor to Camp Hale through the generous efforts of our alumni membership.

This year our appeal has several options for you to consider. One has a very holiday flavor. One of our brethren, Oscar Anthony, co-sponsored on behalf of CHAA the production of a Christmas music CD. This CD is terrific with songs by Patti LaBelle, Willie Nelson, Jethro Tull, Johnny Cash, Stevie Wonder. The CHAA logo appears on the CD. These make great gifts. And your donation of $20 per CD is tax deductible.

As the end of another year is close, it is time to think about our tax deductions. Any donation to CHAA and Camp Hale would be a triple benefit for you, if you can and need the deduction, as it helps you; CHAA reach it’s fund-raising goal; and Camp Hale directly.

Finally, we could use your dues of $20 if you have not already sent them in. CHAA has 340 members. If everyone paid their dues each year over $6,000 extra would be available to support Camp Hale.

Now, here is some important information for you as you consider how much you can afford to donate. The Camp Hale Permanent Endowment Fund was established to create a fund that would eventually grow to a point to allow CHAA to make a substantial annual contribution to assist USES with the operating budget of Camp Hale. The endowment fund is a private investment portfolio managed by Boston Bank & Trust and has just surpassed $100,000. It is overseen by CHAA Finance Committee’s Peter Thompson and Kern Tyler. Peter and Kern are respected investment professionals at BlackRock and John Hancock, respectively.

CHAA is a federal 501 (c) (3) and any dues or donations made to CHAA are tax deductible. Currently, CHAA is the only organization that exists with the sole purpose to support Camp Hale. Our organization is supported in all that we do by USES, the actual owner of Camp Hale, and we have an open dialogue with them as well as use their office as a meeting place for our board of directors.
