Old Home Day

is August 10 2011

The Sandwich Old Home Day celebration is a time honored tradition hosted by the Town of Sandwich residents. In its 113th year, it is a celebration of rural living and the nuances of the small town. It is truly a community-oriented event hosted by the Town of Sandwich welcoming their summer friends from Boston and points beyond.

For Camp Hale the day usually starts with a campers march from Camp Hale northeast up Squam Lake Road, to the Center Sandwich ball field where Sandwich residents eagerly await the campers and staff.

Alumni members and their families are also in attendance to root on or participate in the day’s festivities.

Activities are scheduled for all ages and include sack races, 3 legged races, 25/50/100 yard dashes, pie eating contest, and a Softball game, which Sandwich currently holds the winning edge on. The day winds down with the Tug-O-War - Sandwich vs. Camp Hale (children only please).

There are also arts and crafts activities, dance lessons, and donated books made available to purchase at flea market prices.

The Camp Hale Alumni Association sponsors, and prepares, lunch for all participants.

10:00 AM: Softball Game; Town of Sandwich vs. Camp Hale
11:30: B-B-Q lunch prepared and served by CHAA
1:00 PM: Field games including the Tug-o-war, pie-eating contest, races, etc.

Directions: Take Bean Rd., which turns into Squam Lake Rd. at the lake. Go past the entrance to Camp Hale. Continue 2.3 miles, to the end, and the fields are to the right, behind the Post Office.

A large showing of alums would be great show of support to Camp Hale and the community.

Looking forward to another successful Old Home Day.

Save the date of August 10, 2011. Spread the word!
